Lake Macquarie company fined over workplace accident

A Lake Macquarie company has been fined tens of thousand of dollars for a workplace accident, in which a man was seriously injured.

The District Court heard a big reinforced wire cage fell on the man in March 2011, badly injuring him at the Teralba business Structural Concrete Industries.

It specialised in supplying precast and prestressed concrete sections for the construction of buildings, roads and bridges.
The business has been fined nearly $40,000 and ordered to pay the prosecutor's costs.
